Case Study - New Hire Retention

BEARMANHRLOGO.png

Improving retention on our recruitment hires from 51.1 to 94.4

Overview of situation

We were struggling to attract our own staff so we ended up relying on recruitment agencies for all of our recruitment hiring.

The problem faced

The problem with this solution was that the various Agencies that we were using was very expensive and was only providing us with a 1 in 2 success rate (51.1% retention). Having a staff member leave for every 2 hires we made didn’t provide us with the required stability to achieve our growth plans.

What caused the problem

This was caused by our Managers not having enough capacity to dedicate suitable time to these Recruitment activities hence having to outsource. We were also compounded by not having any formalised Recruitment and onboarding processes so we were making bad hiring decisions, or when we did make a good one we wasn’t doing the necessary activities to retain our asset.

Cost of the opportunity

The damage we suffered was tens of thousands of pounds being wasted on wrongful recruitment hires. The instability of staffing levels also meant we failed to hit our growth targets as we were struggling to maintain quality of service. In the end we were losing as many clients as we were acquiring.

The plan XYZ proposed

We contacted Bearman HR and was instantly reassured. They did a full analysis of our current recruitment methods along with the various Agency providers and by the end of the week we had a detailed report with so many recommendations to progress with. They even included a hints and tips cheat guide to secret recruitment methods that we had never even heard of before!

Results that followed

The results were instant. Bearman HR created an internal recruitment structure that meant we were able to attract, assess and retain quality candidates. Resultingly, we had more cashflow, as we weren’t making expensive agency purchases. Additionally, our operational effectiveness and outputs increased which meant we acquired and retained even more customers. Our staff retention of new hires went from 51.1% to 94.4% within the year. Essentially, we grew! (happily)
